A favorite ongoing project at Roam & Chroma. This is a series of downloadable & printable designs inspired by the classic, original La Loteria imagery. La Loteria is an iconic Mexican game of chance – much like bingo, but it uses images instead of numbers. The images are considered archetypal & broadly recognized in all of Mexico, as the game has origins which date back to 1887 (when the first version was published). We see the images all the time (here in San Miguel de Allende), and just HAD TO redesign them…..but out of celebration & delight rather than an attempt to upgrade them.

We hope you enjoy our version!

If you’d like to puchase the printable digital download of the image, you can follow this link to our Etsy store: https://www.etsy.com/shop/ROAMandCHROMA

Each card/image has a cooresponding phase or ‘hint’:

11. El Melon

Me lo das o me lo quitas……….give it to me, or take it from me

42. La Calavera

Al pasar por el panteon, me encontre un calaveron…….As I passed by the cemetary, I found myself a skull

LA CHALUPA by Roam & Chroma, inspired by Meixo's La Loteria.
48. La Chalupa

Rema que rema Lupita, sentada en su chalupita……..Lupita rows as she may, sitting in her little boat

EL CORAZON by Roam and Chroma, inspired by Mexico's La Loteria.
27. El Corazon

No me extranas, corazon, que regreso en el camion…….Do not miss me, sweetheart, I’ll be back by bus

15. La Pera

El que espera, despera………He who waits, despairs

This one is a pun, by the way. Es Pera (espera) means ‘is a pear’ in Spanish, sounding the same as espera (to wait). i.e. He who is a pear, despairs.

A note on this series: If you are intersted in owning any of the imagery for your own walls, these prints are inexpensive and available here at our our Etsy store: https://www.etsy.com/shop/ROAMandCHROMA

Here’s the skinny on printable digital downloads: Our printable digital downloads are scalable to a wide variety of sizes, and instantly accessible after you purchase them (on Etsy exclusively). You can print and frame them at home or you can take the files to your local print store (Staples, Walgreens, Fedex Kinko’s) and have them printed on heavyweight paper, canvas, metal, made into posters………you name it. A very cool and affordable option for wall decor. Once you have downloaded the file for to print, you own it (for personal use only) and can print it as many times as you’d like.
